Big celebration for a small milestone!

“Don’t do it. It’s a complete waste of time.”

For anyone that has tried something new or adventurous, you’ve probably heard comments like this before.

My experience with these naysayers started last year when I decided to start making videos about industrial real estate.

I’m honoured to work on a team with two of the best brokers in the business (Ryan Brown, SIOR and Darcie Brown), plus another who is already well on his way to becoming one (Drew Joslin) and my plan was to set up a YouTube channel to share the knowledge and insights I’ve picked up over the past 16 years.

My objective was singular: provide as much value as I could to anyone looking to learn more about the industry.

And while I heard a number of reasons why my idea wouldn’t work, I also received a lot of great feedback and support along the way, including being named an Industrial Influencer by GlobeSt.com and being a guest on 15+ podcasts to talk about the market.

Another major highlight has been getting to know some amazing people all across the world (including Raphael Collazo, Logan Hartle, Tyler Chesser, CCIM, and Tyler Cauble, to name just a few).

So fast forward to today, where I’m grateful to have passed a milestone of getting 1,000 subscribers. In the world of ultra-successful “influencers”, getting to 1,000 is pale in comparison, but it’s an accomplishment I’m very proud of nonetheless.

It also wouldn’t have been possible without the numerous people who came along the journey with me.

(Queue the quick lovefest):

If you’ve subscribed to my channel, liked the odd video, or reached out to say how the videos have been helpful, please accept my heartfelt thank you.

Also, a huge shoutout to Beverley Theresa. I would not have started the channel without your encouragement so I’ll always owe you a debt of gratitude.

Of course a big thank you to my wife and children for simultaneously supporting my idea and being an endless source of inspiration (and of course for reminding me to be a bit goofy from time to time — that’s Exhibit A below!)

I’ll end this shameless self-congratulatory post with a quick word of encouragement: if you’re going to try something new, don’t listen to those who say you shouldn’t do it; instead, look for those who will help you get where you want to go.
